"Angels: What the Bible Really Says About God's Heavenly Host" - by Dr. Michael Heiser
Summary: "Everyone knows that angels have wings, usually carry harps, and that each of us has our own personal guardian angel, right? We all have some preconceptions about angels from movies, television shows, and other media, but you might be surprised to know that a lot of those notions aren't based on anything from the Bible. If you read Luke 1:26-38 and imagine the angel Gabriel standing before Mary with neatly folded white wings, you're not getting that picture from anything the Bible itself says." Article:
Summary: "Angels are invisible, personal spirit-beings created by God. They have been made above humanity in the created order. These personages have no physical form like humans, but in the past, they have at times, assumed a physical form for the sake of humanity. They are sexless, deathless, creatures who are ministering spirits. The function of the righteous angels is to do the will of God."
Should we be allowed to see the unseen world it may be too much for humans to assimilate! If we could actually observe the unseen battle about us we would not be equipped to relate our observation to those who do not. We only know that there ARE angels all around and they are assigned to watch over His own. Balaam's ass could testify but one must be an ass to comprehend. Humans ,however, are not to honor nor worship these creations. Man's object of worship is the triune God of all creation.
ReplyDeleteAmen! Worship only belongs to the triune God!
DeleteOur Creator is not bound by time or the events of man. According to Daniel's account the Michael (the Angel) did a little time traveling to help Daniel in his need; likewise our Father can and will meet your need wherever you are and no matter the time or place.
ReplyDeleteDaniel 10:7 Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men who were with me did not see it. On the contrary, they were overcome with fright and ran away to hide. 8 I alone was left to see this great vision. My strength drained from me, and my vigor disappeared; I was without energy. 9 I listened to his voice, and as I did so I fell into a trance-like sleep with my face to the ground. 10 Then a hand touched me and set me on my hands and knees. 11 He said to me, “Daniel, you are of great value. Understand the words that I am about to speak to you. So stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” When he said this to me, I stood up shaking. 12 Then he said to me, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel, for from the very first day you applied your mind to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come in response to your words. 13 However, the prince of the kingdom of Persia was opposing me for 21 days. But Michael, one of the leading princes, came to help me, because I was left there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to help you understand what will happen to your people in future days, for the vision pertains to days to come.”
Such amazing verses of scripture. It's so hard to even imagine Daniel's experience - I would think we'd all, at the least, fall into a trance-like sleep - face down, then shaking. To even imagine standing before Yahweh someday is beyond comprehension. Such Holiness! Will we even be able to stand? I think not.
